Hedges Pictures was founded in 2000, by Travis Hedges Williams, who named the company for his family who immigrated to Louisiana from Peterborough, England in the 1960's. HP believes in creating a performance venue and creative outlet for the talent in an around Baton Rouge and is always eager to collaborate with actors, musicians, designers, production crew and other filmmakers. Each project HP produces is chosen for its artistic challenge, creative story and collaborative opportunities.

The founding members of Hedges Pictures were heavily involved with the theatrical scene in Baton Rouge and began making parody films of productions they were involved in to show at cast parties. These simple movies grew more and more complex as time went on and soon HP partnered with KewlRobot Video, which specialized in cameras, and post-production.

As a result of this partnership, HP began to establish itself as a strong artistic presence in Baton Rouge. It wasn't long before actors ranging in age from three to sixty three, and from all over southeast Louisiana, began to appear in HP films. In addition, HP started to hold special screenings of their movies and enter them into regional film festivals.

Today Hedges Pictures has produced more than a dozen films, including four feature-length pieces. For various clients HP has produced movies that include a children's series, fitness videos and projections for theatrical events. With each new project HP strives to break new artistic ground and to improve the quality and professionalism of the production while working within a "micro" budget.

FUN FACTS:
* Currently, HP has won 11 honors at various film festivals.
* HP has shot at locations including Louisiana's Old State Capitol, East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, the barrier islands of Mississippi, Lake Fausse Point State Park, Alligator Bayou, The Mall of Louisiana, Bluebonnet Swamp, Baton Rouge High School, Dearman's, Coffee Call and various locales in downtown Baton Rouge.
* Through the years HP has worked with more than 250 performers.
* A small blue Nutcracker in a sailor suit (named FF) is hidden in each HP movie.

Who's Who In Hedges Pictures

Travis Hedges Williams (Writer, Director, Producer, Actor, Editor) has worked professionally in all aspects of the performing arts including film, television, and theatre. By the age of fifteen he had already been honored for his contributions at the Baton Rouge Little Theater, begun writing for the stage and screen, been seen daily on Fox 44 TV as the lead host of the “Kid’s Club”, and established himself as an accomplished actor. Travis founded Hedges Pictures in 2000, at the age of eighteen, when he wrote, produced and directed his first movie. Since then he has been honored multiple times for his cinematic endeavors. Travis remains active with BRLT and is on staff with the Red Stick International Animation Festival. In addition, he works as an administrative assistant for the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, where he also writes and performs regularly. He will soon complete his undergrad degree at LSU in General Studies, with a concentration in Theatre, Film/Media Arts, and English, with a minor in history.

Michael A. Westphal (Cinematographer, Post- Production Supervisor) Michael first dabbled with film in 1968 with his mom's windup Kodak 8mm movie camera. His very first film involved his siblings and neighborhood friends in stop-action animation. He loved film and theatre, but being unable to "act his way out of a wet paper bag", Michael stuck to backstage and behind the camera. He was a stage-hand in high school and college, performing a variety of jobs covering the entire realm of backstage theatre, opera, ballet, and rock and roll: lights, sound, grip, props, design, construction, and film projection. Michael is a computer consultant who has worked with video and audio since "Beta" and casette tape. Now an expert in digital video capture and editing, when not designing high-throughput data collection systems or zooming around the country, Michael lends his talents to Hedges Pictures by way of Kewl Robot Video.
